Lesson 5

Lesson 5

Year 2

Lesson 5 builds on children’s understanding of subjects and verbs by showing how extra information is sometimes needed to make sentences complete. Pupils learn how both being verbs and action verbs can require additional detail so that ideas are clear and meaningful. The PowerPoint introduces the concept step by step with engaging examples that help children see how sentences become stronger and more accurate when expanded correctly. The accompanying tasks give children the chance to practise this skill in different ways: one focuses on adding describing words to complete sentences with being verbs while the other encourages pupils to add extra detail to action verbs.
