Lesson 9

Lesson 9

Year 1

In this lesson, children revisit what they have learnt about subjects, verbs and extra information. They recap how each part helps a group of words make sense as a complete sentence. Through guided examples, pupils are reminded that every sentence needs a subject and a verb — and sometimes extra information — to be complete.

The follow-up independent tasks allow children to apply this knowledge by filling in missing parts to make full sentences. This helps reinforce their understanding of sentence structure and ensures they can recognise and build complete sentences with confidence.
